Power Bank Rental Station for Sale: Alibaba vs Joining a Network
JB Charging Team

Search "power bank rental station for sale" and the results fill up with wholesale 8-slot stations for a couple hundred dollars. Our J8 Pro lists at $1,199.99 at the time of writing. The cheap one is a cabinet. To rent out a bank, you also need payments wired into the station, software, a SIM in every unit, firmware updates, renter support and somewhere to bring the bank back.
With JB, you buy the station, pay no monthly fee, and we keep 20% of each rental for payments, 4G data, software and support. You keep 80%, before any venue share and your own costs. At $3 a rental that's $2.40 to you, so if a J8 Pro from the 5-pack costs about $950 delivered, about 400 rentals cover it.
Below: the 12 things you'd otherwise build yourself, what they cost, and when building your own wins (with 100 or more stations and engineers on staff, it can).
Power bank rental stations for sale on Alibaba: what the price buys
Listings call them power bank rental stations, power bank vending machines or charging kiosks: the same kind of cabinet. Wholesale marketplaces list 8-slot models for a couple hundred dollars before freight and duties, and a 2024 Notebookcheck write-up covered one listed at $128, with 5,000 mAh banks and micro-USB among its cables.
Some will get online and take payments, but the price buys only the cabinet. Before you compare, check:
- What the price covers. Cabinet only, or banks too? A card reader, or QR only?
- The banks. Capacity and cables vary, and some cheap cabinets still ship 5,000 mAh banks or micro-USB. Ours are 8,000 mAh with Lightning and USB-C built in.
- The minimum order. Ask what one unit costs, and how many you have to buy to get the listed price.
- Landed cost. Freight, duties and a customs broker come on top. Get a delivered quote.
The checklist: what you'd be building yourself
Every row is something a working rental station needs. The middle column is your job if you buy the cabinet alone.
| You need | Cabinet alone, no seller platform | With a JB station |
|---|---|---|
| A way to rent | An app or web flow, plus a server that tells one slot to release when payment clears | Tap a card or phone, or scan the QR code. No app or account needed |
| Payments | A merchant account, a reader wired into the station software, billing that settles when the bank returns, refunds, chargebacks | Covered by our 20%. Every station we sell today has a tap-to-pay reader |
| Data | A SIM per station, a carrier that reaches your venues, a monthly bill, offline detection | 4G SIM built in at no charge, Wi-Fi backup, no monthly fees |
| Software updates | Someone to fix bugs and push updates for as long as you run the fleet | Platform updates come from us |
| Dashboard | Per-station pricing, rentals in progress, revenue by venue, alerts | The portal: per-station pricing, Active Rentals, alerts for offline stations, a down card reader or low banks |
| Payouts | Collecting the money, paying yourself, paying each venue's share | Paid on the 1st by direct deposit. You set each venue's cut in the portal; it comes out of your 80%, and venues get theirs by monthly direct deposit |
| Renter support | A number on the machine, and someone to answer "it charged me and nothing came out" | Renters reach our U.S.-based team through the machine, the app or the receipt |
| Non-returns | Logic to charge a renter who keeps the bank | By default, $40 to the renter if the bank isn't back in 24 hours. Set per station |
| Banks and repairs | Reorders, minimums, lithium shipping rules, warranty claims overseas | Replacement banks $200 per 10 at list. 3-year limited warranty from delivery |
| Importing | Freight, duties, a customs entry, lithium shipping rules | Bought from a U.S. company; shipping shown at checkout |
| A place to return | Usually only your own stations | Any free slot at any JB station; the app maps them all |
| Screen ads | Software to push content to every screen | Upload from the portal; keep 100% of what you sell. Finding advertisers is up to you |
The banks row catches first-time importers off guard. Power banks are lithium-ion batteries, with their own section in U.S. hazardous-materials shipping rules. Boxes of loose banks must be marked as forbidden on passenger aircraft, so replacements come by cargo flight, truck or ship. Get the delivered price and transit time first.
Whichever way you buy, carry your own general liability insurance; malls and larger venues often ask for a certificate of insurance.
The return row grows with the network: JB stations are live in 250+ venues across 30+ states. In a city where you placed the only one, "any station" means yours.
The math: what the price gap pays for
Say a J8 Pro from the 5-pack costs about $950 with shipping. About 400 rentals of your $2.40 cover it, or about 200 if renters keep the bank an hour ($6 at the default price, so $4.80 to you). Your share is before any venue share, travel, maintenance and taxes. Those, plus lost or damaged banks and your time, add to the count, and slow weeks stretch it. How fast a station gets there depends mostly on the venue and where it sits in the room.
Now the gap. Say a wholesale 8-slot station lands at your door for $350 after freight and duties (an assumption; get a real quote). The J8 costs about $600 more, or about 250 rentals of your $2.40 share. That $600, plus our 20% afterward, pays for the right-hand column of the checklist.
Our 60 cents on a $3 rental covers card processing, 4G data, the software and portal, and support. Processing alone, at a published rate like Stripe Terminal's 2.7% + 5¢, is about 13 cents of it. The bigger difference is the shape of the cost. A share is small when a station is slow, while a data plan, a server and a developer's invoice cost the same busy or idle.
Say you go it alone with a $10-a-month data plan per station, processing at 2.7% + 5¢, and $30,000 over three years for software and payment integration, built or licensed. That software works out to about $83 a station each month across 10 stations, or about $8 across 100. For illustration, monthly cost per station on $3 rentals:
| If a station rents (a month) | Our 20% | Alone, 10 stations | Alone, 100 stations |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $3 | $94 | $19 |
| 20 | $12 | $96 | $21 |
| 60 | $36 | $101 | $26 |
At 10 stations, fixed costs swamp everything: going alone costs more until a station passes about 200 rentals a month. At 100 stations the lines cross near 40, so at 60 rentals a month, going alone costs about $10 less per station. Cheaper cabinets also save up front: against 20-pack list pricing (about $852 a station with shipping), roughly $500 a station, or $50,000 across 100. Neither "alone" column counts your hours on renter support, refunds, hosting and software upkeep.
To run your own quotes: monthly cost alone, per station = data plan + (software cost ÷ 36 months ÷ stations) + about 13 cents a rental. With us: 60 cents a rental at $3, and nothing when nobody rents. If a seller charges a per-station fee for its own app and back end, use that fee in place of the software line, then ask the questions below.
When building your own makes sense
It's a reasonable call if:
- You plan to run 100 or more stations, so the software cost spreads thin.
- You have engineers who will own firmware, payments and the app for years, not just through launch.
- You already take unattended card payments, or have a processor ready to support them.
- You want your own brand on the app and screens, and will build the station map and return network from zero.
- You're outside the U.S. We sell only in the U.S. for now.
It's probably the wrong call if this is your first station, you have no developer, or you'd rather spend your first months in venues than in code. Placement matters far more than the cabinet, and every week on software is a week not spent picking and placing venues.
Six questions for any hardware seller
Three sort sellers fast:
- Who processes payments, and whose merchant account is it? If it's yours, you also own chargebacks, refunds and billing that settles at return. If it's the seller's, ask what they keep and when you get paid.
- Who updates the firmware, and for how long? Ask how updates reach the station, who writes them, and what happens if the seller drops the model.
- What happens when a slot jams? Have them walk it through from the renter's side and from yours.
Picture a Friday at 11:40pm. A renter taps, the reader approves, and slot 6 doesn't let go. With a cabinet you bought alone, the renter calls the number on the sticker (yours) or disputes the charge. You find the transaction, refund it, and work out whether the slot or the software failed. With a JB station, the renter can contact our support team through the machine, the app or the receipt. Fixing the slot at the venue is still your job.
Then three more:
- Where does the software run, what does it cost per station after year one, and what happens to your stations if the seller drops it?
- Which U.S. carriers does the modem work on, and who supplies the SIM?
- What does a replacement bank cost delivered, and who pays freight on a warranty return?

The broader list is in 10 questions to ask any charging station company before you buy.
Where JB Charging fits
We sell the cabinet with the right-hand column included: no monthly fee, 20% of rentals. You can buy one station at a time. A J8 Pro lists at $1,199.99, or $899.99 a station in the 5-pack and $799.99 in the 20-pack. The J24 Pro tower is $3,299, and the J48 Pro, built to order for the biggest rooms, is $4,299. Those are list prices at the time of writing, with shipping shown at checkout.
What we don't do: find your venues (no location is guaranteed), install your stations, or fix local problems at the venue. To see every cent of a rental, read where the money goes on a power bank rental.
Next step
If you're weighing a wholesale listing against us, bring the listing to a call. We'll go through the checklist line by line, including the rows where building your own wins. Planning a bigger fleet? Custom bundles are priced on a call. Book a call, or see the stations first.
Examples are illustrative only, not a forecast or a typical result. What a station earns depends on the venue, placement, pricing, local demand, and how actively you run it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy a power bank rental station off Alibaba and run it myself?
Yes. The cabinets are easy to buy. To rent out banks, you'd also need payments tied into the station's software, a data SIM in every unit, firmware updates, an operator dashboard, renter support and replacement banks. You'd also handle freight, duties and the U.S. hazardous-materials rules for shipping lithium banks. It can make sense if you plan to run 100 or more stations and have engineers to keep the software going for years. For a small fleet, those fixed costs can easily outweigh what the cheaper cabinet saves.
How much does a power bank rental station cost?
Wholesale 8-slot cabinets list for a couple hundred dollars before freight, duties, software, data and payments. A JB Charging J8 Pro lists at $1,199.99, or $899.99 a station in the 5-pack. The J24 Pro tower is $3,299 and the J48 Pro, built to order, is $4,299. Those are list prices at the time of writing. The price buys the station with its tap-to-pay reader and 4G SIM built in. Software, data, payment processing and support are then covered by JB's 20% of rentals, and there's no monthly fee.
What does JB Charging's 20% cover?
Card and phone payment processing, 4G connectivity, the software and operator portal, and support, including renter support through the machine, the app or the receipt. Every machine we sell ships with a built-in 4G SIM at no charge and uses Wi-Fi as a backup, so there's no monthly fee or SIM bill. You keep 80% of rental revenue, before any venue share, equipment, travel, maintenance and taxes.
Can I buy just one station?
Yes. A single J8 Pro is $1,199.99 list at the time of writing, with shipping shown at checkout. Bundles bring it to $899.99 a station in the 5-pack or $799.99 in the 20-pack, and custom bundles for larger fleets are priced on a call. If you're looking at a wholesale listing, ask about its minimum order before you compare unit prices.
Do I need to set up my own payment processor?
Not with a JB station. Every station we sell today has a built-in reader. Renters tap a card or phone (Apple Pay, Google Pay or any contactless card) or scan the QR code. Processing is covered by JB's 20%, and you're paid monthly on the 1st by direct deposit.
Can renters return a power bank to a different station?
With JB, yes. Renters can use any free slot at any JB Charging station, and the app maps every station. In a city where yours is the only station, that means yours. With hardware you bought on its own, banks usually can only go back into stations you run.
