This applies to our mobile application ("JB Charging App"), our website, our physical charging kiosks, and any related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information in three ways: (1) Information you provide to us, (2) Information collected automatically, and (3) Information from third parties.
A. Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.
- Payment Information: We do not store your full credit card numbers. All payment data is processed and stored by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We only retain a "token" or ID associated with your payment method.
- Customer Support: Information you provide when contacting us for help, including error reports or questions.
B. Information Used Automatically
When you use the JB Charging App or our Kiosks, we may collect:
- Geolocation Data (on device and not transmitted): We collect your device's precise location to help you find the nearest charging station.
- Device Information (on device and not transmitted): Device model, operating system (iOS/Android), unique device identifiers, and IP address.
- Camera Access (on device and not transmitted): We require camera access to scan QR codes on our kiosks to unlock batteries.
- Transaction Data: Details about your rental history, including where you rented a battery, where you returned it, and the duration of the rental.
C. Information from Third Parties
- Social Logins: If you choose to log in via Apple or Google, we receive your public profile information (name and email) from those providers.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use your data to run our business and improve your experience:
- Service Delivery: To facilitate the rental and return of portable batteries.
- Payments: To process rental fees, deposits, and refunds via Stripe.
- Communication: To send rental receipts, account updates, and security alerts.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: To detect unauthorized use of our kiosks and protect our inventory.
- Compliance: To satisfy legal and regulatory requirements.
3. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted third parties who help us operate, such as:
- Stripe: For payment processing.
- AWS (Amazon Web Services): For secure cloud hosting.
- Google Maps API: To provide map functionality in the app.
- Business Transfers: If JB Charging is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or to protect the safety of our users.
4. DATA RETENTION & SECURITY
Security Measures
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. This includes:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- PCI Compliance: We adhere to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) by utilizing Stripe for all sensitive payment handling.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law (e.g., for tax and accounting records). If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data, unless we are legally required to keep specific records.
5. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on your location (including California, Virginia, and other US states), you may have the following rights:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can ask us to fix incorrect data (most of this can be done directly in the App Settings).
- Deletion: You can request that we delete your account and personal data.
- Opt-Out: You can opt out of marketing communications at any time via the settings in the app or the "unsubscribe" link in emails.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. We may also notify you via the app or email.
